What is OT?
I am so glad you asked! I wrote a long post all about occupational therapy and why I chose it as my profession HERE.
What does “pearls on a string” mean?
The name of my blog comes from two different inspirations. First, my beloved grandmother, Marcella, started a tradition with all of her granddaughters on our birthdays: Each year we received a single pearl that we put on a string until there were enough for a necklace. Thinking of pearls on a string evokes happy memories of her style, grace, intelligence, kindness and delicious cooking…basically who I aspire to be every day. Second, the name was partly inspired by the Ryan Adams song “Pearls On A String.” I love him and that song!
Why do you move around so much? Are you in the military?
Nope! My husband and I both work in health care. We moved to Maryland for his residency and to Alaska to try out a new opportunity. We like to explore new places and travel while we are on the search for our Forever City.
How do you have time for this blog?
Good question! How does one have any time for anything? I think when something is a priority and is enjoyable, it gets done. My husband is really supportive, too, which helps tremendously. My return to blogging came at a time when I desperately needed something to do that is just for me, that is creative, and helps channel my emotions into something more positive. It’s pretty much my therapy:)
What’s been the hardest thing about motherhood?
That my time is not my own! It’s been very difficult for me to learn to plan errands and life around another person. Not being able to run out to the grocery store, to get a manicure, go to the gym, etc, on a whim or when I want to has been hard for me. However, with a little advanced planning and a few babysitters on hand all things are possible!
